Music by Barry Manilow
Lyrics by Bruce Sussman & Jack Feldman
Directed by Adriana Beckner & Renee Yawn
Her name was Lola. She was a showgirl…
This two-act musical is based on Barry Manilow’s
song “Copacabana”. The story follows Stephen,
an aspiring songwriter, as he writes what he hopes will
become a hit musical. His story takes him back to the 1940s
as he creates a story of an ambitious young singer, Lola
Lamar. He tells of Lola flying from the southwest to the
Big Apple, with nothing but dreams of stardom in her eyes.
She lands a job at the famous Copacabana Nightclub “the
hottest club north of Havana”. Tony Starr, a bartender
helps her get a job as a Copa girl.

take place; and, most of all, the extraordinary spider,
Charlotte, who proves to be "a true friend and a good
writer." Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins

Ever wonder how Jungle Red nail polish became so popular???
The Two-Act play is an acidic commentary
on the pampered lives and power struggles of various wealthy
and up-and-comers and the gossip that propels and damages
their relationships. While men frequently are the subject
of their lively discussions and play an important role in
the action on-stage, they are strictly characters mentioned
but never seen. This all-female cast brings socialites competing
in a no-holds barred survival of the fittest. They make
up an artificial society of vanity, comedy, tragedy, hope
and disappointment.
Set in 1936 – 1938
